If you're looking for natural firing clay for your modelling, sculpture or throwing projects, then Gédéo Firing Clay is the ideal option for you.
This 100% natural potter's clay is available in two natural colours: white and red. It's practical and its clay-like nature means you can create very fine details when modelling. What's more, this clay has excellent resistance, hardness and strength after firing, retaining its natural colour. It performs exceptionally well with ceramic glazes on the market.
Transparent when dry, it's easy to use and perfect for this type of project. To sculpt your clay, we recommend the set of 4 modelling tools including the mirette, the ébauchoir, the estèque and the cutting wire. These tools will help you sculpt clay with ease.
How to use:
Modeling Clay (Firing Required)
Applications:
Shape by hand or with tools; air dry before firing.
Fire in a ceramic kiln at 980-1050 ºC for strength and finish with glaze.
Use slip (clay and water mix) to join pieces; reinforce angled joints with extra clay.
Conservation: Wrap unused clay in plastic; rehydrate with water if dry.
Drying: Dry slowly on a porous surface, which can take 2-5 days depending on the size.
Waterproofing Clay
Applications:
Apply to surfaces to create a waterproof coating.
Temporary coloring aids in even application and full coverage.
Modeling Paste
Applications:
Apply turpentine for smooth finish; soften near heat for easy molding.
Storage: Keep near heat source for continued pliability.
Non-Firing Clay
Applications:
Shape, air dry (4-5 days), then paint, varnish, or polish for non-food containers.
Join pieces with slip while wet; use glue for dried pieces.
For solid or thin-wall creations, can be molded and turned on a potter's wheel.
Conservation: Store wrapped in plastic for reuse if moist. Keep cool and avoid freezing.
Drying: Air dry or oven-dry at 100-110 ºC to increase hardness.
