A compact and yet extremely powerful USB 3.0 MIDI interface with 8 MIDI ports. Each of the 8 ports can either be used as a MIDI input or as a MIDI output, replacing not only traditional MIDI interfaces like it's popular predecessor models with 4 inputs and 4 outputs, but providing also other possible configurations. For instance, you can use up to 8 outputs at a time or up to 8 inputs, or 6 outputs and 2 input. This is all handled automatically, simply based on your connection to other MIDI inputs or MIDI outputs and each automatic input/output configuration is displayed via colored LEDs on the front panel. M4U eX is not only one of the worlds first USB 3.0 MIDI interfaces, it also includes a USB 3.0 hub with 3 connectors for other USB equipment. The class compliant device can be bus powered or if needed for other USB devices, be powered by the included DC power supply.

Hodnotím produkt, ako sa mi darí s používaním a postupným priradením hudobných modulov. Skôr som písal, že pripojenie USB klávesníc do USB portov a následné používanie v rozličných hudobných softvéroch vrátane Cubase je bez problémov. Teraz som pripojil do ESI M4U eX zvukový modul Yamaha MU80 cez Cubase. Ku zvukovému modulu som priradil klávesy M-AUDIO Keystation Pro 88. Pripojenie v Yamaha MU80 mi bolo cez MIDI IN B port, do ESI M4U eX som pripojil MIDI port 5, ktorý mi svietil červene. ESI som mal pripojené cez USB port do PC a mal som zapnutý aj adaptér. Cubase mi integroval Yamahu MU80. Priradil som klávesy M-AUDIO Keystation Pro 88. Klávesy som skôr nechal v jednej zóne bez rozdelenia klávesov. Skúšal som voliť hlasy cez klávesy - program-číslo zvoleného hlasu. Išlo to bez problémov. Zvukový modul síce ukazoval vždy len pôvodné 01 Grand piano, ale Cubase fungovalo so zvoleným hlasom. Po vyskúšaní viac variant hlasov som rozdelil klávesy na 4 zóny a ku každej zóne som priradil iný hlas. Fungovalo to, Mal som zo zvukového modulu Yamaha MU80 zvolených 4 rôzne hlasy pre každú zónu osobitne. Bol som s tým spokojný.

Missing power button, doesn't remember last standalone mode after unplugging and it would be nice to be able to save port settings instead of only relying to automatic detection and a few standalone presets. Also USB hub functionality doesn't work standalone, it needs to be plugged into computer. But other than that really nice, easy to use simple midi/usb hub, well built and useful. Also looks quite nice.
