Darwi The Self-Hardening Modelling Clay Classic Selvtørrende ler White 500 g

Self-hardening modelling clay. The Darwi Classic is white and medium-hard after drying. It can be tinted with paintings such as our painting Darwi Acryl.

Darwi air-drying clay, well known for the fineness of its grain, is used for any modelling or sculpting work. This can be used to make small decorative items, jewelry, dolls, statuettes or even to repair some materials such as furniture.

It does not smell and does not stick to the hands, so the work stays pleasant. The clay is flexible and semi-elastic. It does not shrink when drying and is completely opaque.

Before starting your work, knead the self-hardening clay, add a bit water inside if the clay is not flexible enough and knead it thoroughly, it is ready to be worked if no cracks are formed.

Take small pieces of clay and add as you go along. Work quickly. If your work is a long-term job, you may notice that some parts are starting to dry. If this is the case, slightly moisten the clay. If you want to add one element to another already dry, moisten the surface before placing the second part or use our Darwi super strong acrylic adhesive to weld two dry elements.

If you work the clay on a porous material, first coat it with water to prevent the water in the Darwi clay from immediately disintegrating in the substrate and drying. This could cause cracks

When you have finished your sculpture, let it dry and rest on paper towels. If you do not have paper towels, be sure to return the creation so that the base can dry too.

If you try to speed up the drying time, cracks may appear. It is necessary to count 24h at room temperature by 1 cm of thickness so that the sculpture is completely dry. This time is indicative because it can vary depending on the humidity of the room and air!

To finalize the sculpture, use our Darwi acrylic paints and varnishes .

Mix your self-hardening clay with the same amount of water. If it does not mix well, let it rest for a few hours. You will obtain a paste that you can decorate with mica powders (Cernit Sparkling), inks (Watteau Ink or Cristaline). Use this cream to soak a piece of tissue that you want to sculpt.

Allow the fabric to dry long enough: remember that the clay has been diluted! For more resistance use the Darwi Roc.

Use the same technique with Darwi Extra-light to create a structure clay and give relief to your paintings!

Clean the tools with water. The open package of self-hardening clay should be stored in an airtight manner away from air and heat. The trick to keep a fresh piece for months is to wrap it in a damp sponge sheet, then close with an airtight plastic bag. Keep in your fridge.

  • The clay is very homogeneous and the grain is very fine which is suitable for delicate work
  • There is no retraction when drying
  • The Darwi is completely vegan
  • Made in Belgium.
